ANNOUNCEMENTS

EXCITING NEWS: I signed a multiple book deal with Launch Point Press to publish several volumes of my poetry. The first volume, Desire Returns for a Visit will be published November, 2018.
The book launch party will feature three other poets reading with me: Kathleen Saadat, G. L. Morrison, and Ila Suzanne Gray. Music will be provided by Naomi Littlebear Morena. The event will be held at the wheelchair accessible TaborSpace, 5441 SE Belmont, in Portland, Oregon, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. After the readings, we will sign and sell books and CDs, all of which make excellent holiday gifts. Refreshments will be served.
You can visit Launch Point’s website here. You will find me listed in their stable of authors. Lori L Lake, the publisher, is a person I admire greatly. I love her books and I find her to be the most generous of teachers. I’m proud to be associated with her publishing company.

I have been awarded the My Good Judy residency to workshop my full-length play, The Missouri Cycle. I will spend the entire month of January 2019 in New Orleans doing just that.

Also in January 2019, my play Blue Roses will be featured by Mad Women in the Attic.

Please see My Clips page for my latest articles, poems, essays. I write a weekly column for ROAR Literature and Revolution for Feminist People. My column is Fight this Hate and offers both a weekly round-up of events you want to know about and ways to fight back against hate.

The Missouri Cycle is a collection of three one-act plays, two ten-minute plays, and seven monologs. Scripteasers of San Diego has already read several. San Diego Playwrights read a piece on April 11th at Diversionary Theatre at their WordPlay Tuesday series. Another piece was produced by Athena Cats Theatre in Santa Monica.

My full-length play Blue Roses about Rose Kennedy and Rose Williams, both of whom suffered lobotomies to protect their families’ reputations, had a staged reading in Raleigh, NC on June 30, 2017, at the Women’s Theatre Festival. The WTF occupied the stage for 24 hours. Every play was performed twice as they did two 12-hour stints.

A Grave Situation, from The Missouri Cycle, was performed as part of Athena Cats New Works Festival in Santa Monica, California on Saturday, April 8th. There were two performances: 1 pm and 3 pm, at City Garage, Bergamot Station Arts Center, Bldg T1, 2525 Michigan Avenue.

Till Darkness Comes is now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook everywhere books are sold. NYT best-selling thriller writer Chelsea Cain says: “I wish I had half the plotting talent of Sandra de Helen. This is a terrific and totally satisfying book.” I have begun work on the sequel.

My mystery novels, the Shirley Combs/Dr. Mary Watson series, are now available in serial format on Chanillo.com at this link. Chanillo offers different levels of membership, and for only $4.99 a month, you can subscribe for up to 10 different series. You can click on the authors to see who they’re reading as well. Even if you don’t want to buy, go have a look. If you click on View next to anything, you can read a sample. I’m reading a few serials there myself. And if you’re an author, you may want to write for them. Go check them out.

Please support Indie Bookstores. While my books are available online, when you buy my books at Another Read Through in Portland or Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore in San Diego, you will find I have PRICED THEM BELOW what you can get them for online. And I will continue to do so. Indie bookstores rock!
